The fully split Cedervall sterntube seal allows the vessel to avoid shaft
withdrawal during dry docking as well as the following work of rudder
dismounting and propeller disassembly. This will not only save time in the
dry dock but also costs in the shape of off-hire time, goods handling,
delays etc. Certainly any type and make of seal can easily be exchanged,
not only improving the quality of the sterntube seal but also guaranteeing a
simple and efficient service job.
The existing seal, normally broken down, will be removed by simply cutting it out. This is another result of the fact that a shaft withdrawal is not necessary.
The Cedervall sterntube seal will then already be at the yard, waiting to be checked, cleaned and mounted. A simple step by step program is carried out by the authorized Cedervall service engineer to ensure the quality of the mounting and the guarantees.
